Reign Check: Can This Little Light Really Shine?

Some days, it’s easy to believe our light doesn’t matter. Maybe we feel too quiet, too behind, too unseen to make a difference. But light doesn’t need to be loud to be powerful. And when the world feels dim, your decision to show up may carry more weight than you know.

Here’s this week Reign Check:

Read the Word

Matthew 5:14–16 (NLT)
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket.
Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see,
so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

Release the Lies

  • If I don’t have a platform, I don’t have a purpose.

  • I’m not good enough to do what I dream of.

  • If I never try, the world will never miss what I carry.

  • If I can’t do it like them, I shouldn’t do it at all.

  • If they don’t see the value in what I do, it’s probably not valuable.

  • My ideas are too simple to make a difference.

  • What I carry isn’t needed—it’s already been said, done, or built.

Reclaim the Truth

Kids notice when the bathroom light isn’t on—especially when it gives them peace to close their eyes.

A broken streetlamp makes walking to the parking garage feel less safe. And in a dark stadium, it only takes one phone light before thousands start to glow.

No matter the size or placement, the purpose of every light is to cut through darkness.

We are no different.

You were made to shine — not to receive glory from others, but to point to a glorious King.

In a world where darkness consumes our newsfeeds and sometimes our conversations, your decision to show up might be the one thing that makes someone’s day brighter — someone’s life better.

Not just online.
Not just in front of crowds.
But at your dinner table.
In the grocery store line.
On yet another Zoom call.

Your light makes a difference — in the big moments and the small.

You’re missed when you’re not around.

And the people assigned to you long to receive the healing and hope of your glow.

So shine where you are — as you are — in ways only you can.

Reflect the Heart

  1. Do you feel hidden—or have you been hiding?

  1. When do you tend to shrink myself? How can you prepare—mentally, spiritually, or practically—to show up as your full self next time?

  2. If you’re afraid of being seen, rejected, or misunderstood, what truth will you hold onto to stay rooted in purpose instead of praise or approval?
